We don’t need to tell you this has been a rough time for secular people and our allies. This week, the Governor signed “religious freedom on steroids” bill HB2507 into law.

We know it’s easy to get demoralized. So what can we do to pull out of it? Get involved and help others!

Every year, the secular movement comes together for Secular Week of Action—a way to improve our communities and provide a relevant alternative to the National Day of Prayer (May 5, 2022). Secular groups spend a whole week organizing service projects and volunteering as individuals — increasing the visibility of our groups and making a difference.

Here are three ways you can get involved:

  1. Join us at our table at Rainbows Fest this weekend to have friendly conversations with members of the LGBTQ+ community and supporters about the issues that affect us all!
  2. Volunteer with Secular AZ liaisons Humanist Society of Greater Phoenix (HSGP) to pack emergency food boxes for unsheltered people on 5/5!
  3. Pitch in and/or promote HSGP’s weeklong fundraiser to help buy period products for people in need!

If you’re participating in Week of Action this year, let us know so we can promote your efforts! (You can get ideas and list your event on weekofaction.org)

At a time where we all feel bogged down by the weight of political challenges, let’s remind ourselves that we as individuals still hold a surprising amount of power to positively impact the lives of others.

Your Insights Still Needed!

In order to best represent your interests and speak with your voice, we want to know more about your specific identity and what it means to you. When you have a second, we’d love it if you could take our brief poll, with the option to share your story on our blog!
