Oppose coerced speech, administrative burdens, and gun indoctrination in schools
On Tuesday, AZ Senate and House Education Committees will hear the following bills:
HB2707- forcing teachers to lead the Pledge of Allegiance—“under God” and all—as well to facilitate a “moment of silence” (read: prayer)
SB1211 – requiring schools to post all learning materials online in advance of their use in a classroom.
HB2448 – designed to invite the National Rife Association into public schools to teach a mandatory "firearms safety" training class of disputed effectiveness
The first bill represents unconstitutional coercion of religious speech. The second would add new burdens to overworked school teachers. And the third is designed to push a gun safety training class that the American Academy of Pediatrics has found is worthless, and that others have criticized for being "Joe Camel" for guns.
What you can do:
1. Contact members of Senate Education Committee before Tuesday. (You can use our form here.)
2. If you are a Request to Speak user, sign in against these bills and/or testify against them in committee.
