Act quickly to waive the spending cap for our schools.
Without action by March 1, schools across the state will be forced to cut more than $1.1 billion out of their collective budgets.
Last year, lawmakers appropriated $1.54 billion for public schools, which put them over a constitutional spending limit. A bill to override the limit has support in the House, but is currently hung up in the Senate.
If the funding is cut off, about 880,000 students would be affected.
We are calling upon the Senate to take quick action. Contact your State Senator and urge their support for SCR1050, a resolution in support of waiving the cap.
