How Can We Achieve Reproductive Justice?

While Prop 139 may have passed, questions remain about the future of reproductive rights in Arizona and the U.S. Let's talk about it this Friday, January 24, at noon (MST) as we welcome Pat Zavella PhD, Professor Emerita of Latin American and Latino Studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz.

She joins us to discuss her work  at the intersection of Chicanx/Latinx studies, anthropology, and feminist studies on poverty, family, sexuality, health, work, transnational migration, and women's social activism. Her latest book is The Movement for Reproductive Justice: Empowering Women of Color through Social Activism

Join an Arizona List Team

It's no secret that Arizona's political landscape promises to be, how can we put this, *challenging* over the next few years. With that reality in mind, Arizona List has created advocacy teams that offer you the chance to take action.

Whether your interests lie in being a legislative watchdog, supporting candidates, helping with social media, or lending a hand with office/administrative tasks, here are multiple ways to get involved and make a difference.

Beyond Belief

Journalist Elle Hardy has traveled from Ethiopia to North Korea to Turkmenistan to... a Pentecostal church in downtown Phoenix?! She joined us last Friday to discuss what she's learned about the growing power of this fundamentalist movement.

Fun fact: Elle won an award for her article Demons be gone: meeting America's new exorcistswhich prominently features an Arizona church. 🙃

Speak Up for the Constitution

As the 57th Legislature kicks in, Secular AZ is monitoring bills that violate church:state separation, so you can voice your opposition using Request to Speak/RTS. (We can help register your RTS account at the State Capitol; here's a primer on how it works.)

So far, we're seeing bills that attempt to legally erase the existence of trans people, funnel tax dollars to fake "pregnancy clinics" that are anti-choice fronts, restrict (Pride, Palestine, Ukraine, etc.) flag displays on public property, create bathroom bans, regulate pronoun use in schools, and more.
