| | Take Action This Week It's crossover week, which means bills that made it through committee are exchanged between the House and the Senate. Please take a few minutes to contact your representatives to let them know how you feel about these bills that impact church:state separation. Here's how to find and contact your legislators. - Oppose HB2927: Requires open call at school board meetings and must be in first 30 minutes, which allows those with a culture war agenda to derail and disrupt meetings.
- Oppose HB2191: Changes zoning restrictions to allow churches to build housing on their properties, only requiring 40% of housing to be low-income. This bill is likely a gift to a particular mega-church that's encroaching on a low-density neighborhood.
- Oppose HB2216: Forces taxpayers to fund fake "pregnancy clinics" that are a front to push anti-choice propaganda based on a specific religious perspective.
- Oppose HB2547: Bars state funding to any healthcare provider that promotes or performs abortion, even to save the mother's life.
- Oppose HB2126: Would require health care provider to give parents of minors access to electronic data, including records of procedures that do not require parental consent. Could keep minors from accessing contraceptive, sexual health, gender-affirming care.
- Oppose HB2670: Requires health education in grades 7-8 to include fetal development, but doesn't include info about birth control, abortion, consent, etc.
- Oppose HB2681: Adds requirements to medical providers before and after prescribing abortion medication, including that it must be prescribed at an in-person visit. Note: there's a strike everything amendment which removes anti-abortion legislation.
- Oppose HB2724/SB1321: Requires schools to cooperate with indoctrination/recruitment efforts by "patriotic youth groups," including presentations during instructional time, posters hanging in schools, etc. Schools cannot deny a group/speaker based on mention of religion.
- Oppose HB2728: Allows courts to order DUI defendants to attend a religiously based program.
Thank you for defending church and state. |

 | How to Get the Constitution Back Last week, we were joined by Madiba Dennie, author of The Originalism Trap: How Extremists Stole the Constitution and How We the People Can Take It Back. We (somewhat jokingly) call our weekly presentations "Rage Fridays," and while there was, inevitably, stuff to rage about, Professor Dennie was also incredibly inspiring. You won't want to miss her talk! Click here to watch on Secular AZ's YouTube channel |

| | | PUSD Board Meeting: Part II In Part I, Jeanne shared that the Peoria (PUSD) board majority is pushing to revamp the district’s social workers’ job description and policy... with policy ideas from organizations like Moms for Liberty. These proposals have nothing to do with best practices and everything to do with Christian nationalistic ideologies and pushing the Project 2025 agenda. Read Jeanne's breakdown of the nearly-two-hour study session, in which (heroic) experts in the district provided answers to every question posed by the board. Despite the sustained attacks to the district, coming from sitting board members, the social workers, counselors, and department heads in PUSD publicly dispelled their mis/disinformation and dropped copious amounts of knowledge.
