Prepare for backlash at school boards over Title IX The Biden administration’s update to Title IX strengthens legal protections for LGBTQ+ students starting in August. Online chatter in Christian nationalist spaces seems to show that hate groups may be organizing to attend school board meetings, and conservative school board members are facing pressure to resist the new law. Concerned constituents are advised to go to their school board meetings, even if just to sit in support of equality. Let us know what you see. Candidate Forums We’ve been hosting forums in key school districts to see where school board candidates stand on on a myriad of issues, including separation of religion and government. However, we’re getting a lot of declined RSVPs this year, and a big reason seems to be that school board candidates fear backlash from religious extremists. If you know of a school board race where you think candidates would want to talk about secular issues, let us know what district, and we’ll invite them to a forum!
