Do school board candidates want your schools to fail? One weird trick to find out.

Do the candidates running for your school board really put kids, safety, or parents first?

Do they want to see public schools improve, or just decry their decline?

Bonds and overrides are a useful measurement for whether school board candidates are running to support public schools — or dismantle them in favor in favor of private and religious ones.

SCHOOL BOARD UPDATES

Queen Creek member Knox under fire for sexist posts

Statewide press has called out Queen Creek school board member James Knox’s misogynistic social media posts, which implied Kamala Harris performed sexual favors for political advancement.

Queen Creek School District’s social media policy states posts should not contain content that could be considered discriminatory, harassing, or offensive based on race, gender or religion.

Knox is up for reelection in November.

Concerned constituents can make their opinions known at the ballot box, and by contacting QCUSD’s Board President Jennifer Revolt at jrevolt@qcusd.org.

Deer Valley member Fisher continues bullying behavior

Christian nationalist school board member Kim Fisher continued her trend of disparaging political rival Ann Ordway and others in an 8/13 Facebook livestream.

In the video, Fisher insinuates Ordway started a long-running food and clothing donation program for personal attention. Fisher proclaims Ordway “doesn’t care about kids” and that her life is “sad” because she “has nothing else in her life.” She references Ordway’s late husband who died from cancer a decade a ago and calls her rival “batshit crazy.”

This follows instances of of Fisher implying Ordway faked her own cancer, treatments for which the local community is still raising funds.

Fisher has long been under criticism for a history of unhinged, unprofessional conduct.

Kim Fisher is running for reelection in Deer Valley Unified School district this November.

ONGOING ACTIONS

Protecting Public Privacy in School Board Meetings

During livestreamed school board meetings in Arizona, public commenters are often recorded, raising safety concerns as their clips circulate online. Some agitators also use these meetings to display political messages, which can be disruptive. Several districts have adopted new camera setups to address these issues, creating a safer and more focused environment. We’re calling on others to join them.
