Near-total abortion ban not in effect until June 8th

Attorney General Kris Mayes clarified in a letter that the earliest the 1864 near-total abortion ban could take effect in Arizona is June 8, 2024. Until then, healthcare providers can continue offering care in line with the 15-week abortion law from 2022. Mayes highlighted ongoing legal efforts to prevent the ban's implementation and emphasized support for medical professionals amidst the challenges.
